Douglas Wurster
Community Manager

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in Landscape Architecture (I also studied Economics and Russian history) I moved to Portland in 1993. I have lived at Vista Avenue Apartments since 1994.
Here at the property, almost all the original perennials and many of the original smaller trees and shrubs had died and had not been replaced. I began donating my time to restoring the gardens at Vista Avenue with the manager. I was eventually hired part time for this work while working full time as a landscape architect at a design/build firm in Beaverton.
Years have passed; I am now the manager of the community with a strong conviction to have it remain the showplace that it was built to be. I also continue to do my landscape architecture business but on a part time basis.
When I am not working at the property I am busy snowboarding, practicing cello, training for Ironman triathlons or just enjoying the beautiful northwest with friends and family.
Kimberley Shields I was raised in the Pacific Northwest and grew up here loving the landscape and climate. I moved back to Portland after finishing school at Boise State University in 1991 and moved into a townhouse at Vista Avenue in 1994. One of the brightest spots in my day has always been coming home and being able to enjoy the serene surrounding here. With all the beautiful flowers and trees, it’s hard not to feel that you’re stepping into a "fantasy."
Assistant Manager

I began working in the Real Estate/ Mortgage business in 1992 and continued until 2005 when I felt the need to work for myself – set my own hours and my own rules. I went to beauty school to become a licensed esthetician and nail technician. That same year, the position of assistant manager became available here at the property and I thought I could use my experience in business and customer service to do a good job.
When I’m not busy here, I love to travel – I’ve seen about 10% of the world and am working slowly on the other 90% - a bit at a time. I also love to cook and entertain.
